Somewhere, there is a village missing its idiot.

Rope-A-Dope II
.
I've been neglecting the blog a bit- there have been several things to rant about- but the holidays and all, you know. It's time to get back in the saddle.
.
Here we've got a nice shot of Senator Charles Schumer, Democrat from New York. Unless you've lived in self-imposed exile there's no way you didn't already know this publicity whore. God help anyone caught between him and the camera.
.
Once again, this idiot has taken center stage. Once again, he's played right into President Bush's hands. The first part of Operation Rope-A-Dope was the nomination of Harriet Myars. I'll concede that it caused a little tiff amongst the Republican base but the way the media played it up, you'd think the G. O. P. disintegrated like Darth Vader's Death Star.
.
The President's numbers dropped and short-sighted Democrats were celebrating, too dumb to realize they were being suckered. Bush was merely causing a rift to reign in middle of the road Republicans like John McCain so everyone would be on the same page when it came time to support the real nominee: Judge Alito. I predicted all of this in an earlier post.
.
Yesterday, in full view of the cameras of course, Chuck Schumer proceeded to make a complete ass of himself, again, on several cable news channels in front of the entire country. He appeared to be, fully, the obstructionist, egomaniacal, conceited, condescending, arrogant asshole he is- voluntarily, during an election year. I'm betting Bush and Rove were viewing Fox News all day, high-fiving during the commercial breaks, as one oblivious Democrat mark after the next, sheeplike, herded into the stock yard chute and slaughtered themselves.
.
The real beauty of it all is that President Bush didn't have to stoop to their level. He's put himself above the fray by appearing to be something besides just another mud-slinging politician. He merely had to expose these morons for who they really are.
.
Anyone who had a television set yesterday had to wonder why they were trying so desperately to crucify Judge Alito. They likely even felt a bit sorry for him as he was railed against for hours for no reason at all by people who hold - at best- a tiny fraction of the intellgence level he himself possesses. Certainly no one was impressed. Certainly there wasn't one Dem who came off as even slightly likeable. Surely, no one is feeling the urge to pull the lever for one of these people in the coming elections.
.
Whether you like President Bush or not, you've got to admire his political prowess. Rather, you've got to wonder how his opponents ever managed to pull off being elected to begin with.
